Passionate Promotion: The Importance of Planning Your Marketing — Before, During, and After Publication
While this presentation is geared toward indie authors/publishers, at its core, anyone in business can benefit from its content delivered at the Publishers and Writers of San Diego meeting. Often, we are in the throes of our work – be it writing, creating, or other such endeavor — and neglect to properly plan for promotion. Promotion should begin simultaneously with the project… if not before. Getting a jump on marketing WHILE working on the project is as important as the project itself. Proper planning includes considering MULTIPLE strategies and channels – not spending all of our time and dollars on just one. You’ve heard it said, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” – now add to that “You can’t bake a cake with just one ingredient.” Your marketing mix should include time-tested, proven core strategies and more novel digital campaigns, alongside the “Amazonian” way.
