Japanese Cultural Bazaar Promises Fun for All

The Buddhist Temple of San Diego announces its annual Japanese Cultural Bazaar. The Bazaar celebrates Japanese culture in music, dance, ink-brush demonstration, martial arts, and more. Inexpensive children’s games provide extra fun.
Fans of Japanese Taiko (drumming) will not want to miss the Temple’s own Taiko group.
“Our visitors always enjoy the performances and demonstrations,” Chairperson Luann Lee, said. “We also have food that people love: teriyaki barbecue chicken, tofu salad, strawberry mochi, home-baked goods, and delicious pork chow mein with pan-fried noodles. ”Chow Mein is Chinese American, and earlier generations of our members loved it in this style, so It has become a staple for us,” Lee said.
Through food sales and a silent auction, and a White Elephant crafts and fashion shop, the Temple raises funds for maintenance and improvements, especially important this time around. “This year we celebrate a hundred years in San Diego, 96 of them at our current location,” Lee said. “We are the oldest Buddhist Temple in San Diego County, and we continue to grow.” https://www.
